Amazing travel opportunities, taking home great pay and comforting and restoring lives across the nation are just a few of the awesome benefits of Travel Nursing. But for TRS Healthcare Professional Brenda Estep, one benefit stood out among the rest: being reunited with family she hadn’t seen for years, even decades. “I jumped at it,” Brenda said. She accepted an assignment that would take her to her childhood home in Maine, more than 1,200 miles away. She packed, said goodbye to Tennessee and hit the road for Maine.
She arrived to the welcoming arms of several loving family members — some she hadn’t seen since she was a child. She spent time with her brother, who she’d only seen four times before the assignment. “It was exciting,” she said. “I did not recognize my brother or my cousin. It had been so long. It felt good to spend time together.” She also visited her sister, and they went to the movies together. She hadn’t seen her sister in 10 years. She expects to see many more family members at a reunion she plans to go to in June.
Brenda was born and raised in Lincoln, Maine and moved away when she was a teenager. She has been a nurse since 1990 and has worked in labor and delivery since 2001. She and her husband, Joseph, have two children and four grandchildren. Brenda, we’re so glad you found the perfect travel nursing assignment and could return to your childhood home to see your family there!
