Although it may seem as though jobs for nursing professionals are plentiful nowadays, RN’s can still face strong competition for certain travel positions. Here at The Right Solutions, we want our RN’s to feel prepared and confident for their phone interviews so that they can do their best and get the jobs in the locations they want. Being nervous before an interview is quite common, but here are some helpful tips you can use to prepare yourself and to show the interviewer you are the best candidate for the position.
Before an interview, we strongly recommend you visit the website of the hospital or medical facility where the jobs for nursing professionals are located in order to learn more about the employer. Take notes to help you remember important details about the facility such as what services they offer, what their mission statement is, etc. Another way to prepare before the phone interview is to practice answering some common questions many interviewers ask. For example, it is common for an interviewer to ask a candidate about his or her educational background or why he or she wants to work as a RN here at their facility. You can practice answering these questions with a friend the day before so that you can better sort through your answers. If you have any additional questions you want to ask during the interview, be sure to write them down so that you do not forget.
During the phone interview find a quiet location where you will not be disturbed or distracted. Be prepared to answer a number of questions about your skills from your profile. The interviewer wants to make sure your skills fit with what they are looking for in a nurse. It is a good idea to have your skills checklist with you during the interview so you can refer back to it if you forget something important. Also, remember that when answering any question always answer it in depth and do not stray away from the original question, or give too little information. Communication is key in every interview you do.
