You might’ve missed the Oscars, but even if you didn’t hosts Frank Whalen and Caleb English made quick work of the top movies of 2014 in this episode of TRS Radio. “It’s four hours on television and 2 minutes on audio,” Frank said. Caleb described the movie “Foxcatcher” as “fantastic” and “alarmingly disturbing.” In the movie, brothers and Olympic wrestling champions join Team Foxcatcher, led by multimillionaire John E. du Pont. “Based on true events, (it) tells the dark and fascinating story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire and two champion wrestlers.” Some of the others Caleb liked were “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Birdman,” which both won four Oscars.
Frank and Caleb also talked about their favorite places to work if they were healthcare professionals. Caleb’s always admired nurses who work in the rural Southwest at some of the more impoverished areas. “It’s just a whole different culture,” he said. There are some of the most beautiful parts of the country, including the Painted Desert, a landscape of rocks “in every hue — from deep lavenders and rich grays to reds, oranges and even pinks.” Frank would probably work in Alaska and enjoy the scenery, “which is a polar bear.” Of course, polar bears are just one of hundreds of kinds of Alaskan wildlife, including bald eagles, blue and humpbacked whales, wolves, grizzly bears, orcas, lynx and moose. Frank also would work in the rural Southwest for Indian Health Services. “Government work looks really good on the resume,” he said. It also allows for some student loan forgiveness.
