Evelyne Musaga, RN, leads a busy life. A nurse, wife, and mother to three young children, juggling her responsibilities at home with her nursing career hasn’t always been easy.
She started working as a registered nurse in 2007 before having a family of her own. As her life changed, she realized her career needed to follow suit. So, in 2021, Evelyne decided to give travel nursing a try.
“I decided to venture into travel nursing due to the flexibility,” she explains. “As a mom with young children [who have] extracurricular activities, I needed a job where I can make my own schedule and still make great income.”
The freedom to establish her schedule well in advance—and to do so around her kids’ busy schedules—makes it easier for Evelyne to spend quality time with her family without sacrificing the career she loves.
“I was born to be a nurse,” says Evelyne. “My favorite part of nursing is being able to provide help to anyone in their time of need.”
Although travel nursing only accounts for a small portion of her career overall, Evelyne couldn’t be happier with the decision. Even during difficult moments, she says TRS Healthcare has been there at every step to support her.
“I absolutely love my recruiter, Casie. She genuinely cares about me. I am not just a number to her,” says Evelyne. “She listens to what I have to say, checks in on me, and when I have any concerns, she moves mountains to make sure she solves the issue.”
One such time was when Evelyne leased a home outside of a recommended area during an assignment. She was alerted by locals that this part of the city was notorious for high crime rates and that she should look for somewhere safer to live. Thankfully, the TRS team was there to help her find a safer home.
“I notified my recruiter, and immediately [TRS] got me a better and safer place to stay. My safety was of utmost importance to them and that makes me feel valued! Pretty much everyone I have had the pleasure of dealing with at TRS has been kind, attentive, and compassionate,” says Evelyne.
When she isn’t traveling for work, Evelyne loves taking her kids go-karting and swimming, two of their favorite things—or they’ll wind down together with a family movie night. Being able to spend this time with her family, Evelyne says, is heartwarming.
“[Travel nursing] gave me the opportunity to balance work and home,” she says. “I can proudly say it was the best decision ever.”
