When Jonathan Bellamy, Technology Operations Manager, thinks back to his first days at TRS Healthcare, he has three words: fast and furious.
“I got a week’s worth of training from the previous person that did my job, and then I was pushed into the fire,” he jokes.
Jonathan’s journey at TRS Healthcare began in 2014 when his previous role at a large corporate environment was no longer delivering the fulfillment he craved.
“Instead of asking for my input or ideas, I was simply told to ‘do this, turn this widget 30 times a day.’ It was a mechanical routine that left me feeling unfulfilled,” he says. “I wanted to find a place where I could make a difference, contributing positively and helping make decisions to steer a company in the right direction.”
His job search led him to TRS Healthcare, and he instantly saw that it was a place where he could make a difference.
“It was a family company, and I could tell my input and contributions would mean more,” Jonathan states. “I interviewed with Diana Wright, the founder, and [CEO] Taylor Faught, and I just thought everything and everyone was fantastic.”
He started as the company’s only information technology (IT) specialist. As a one-man department, Jonathan was responsible for managing everything from phone systems to alarms, ensuring a smooth operation.
Over the years, his job has evolved and shifted, but his role has always focused on making the company more efficient to better serve the TRS healthcare internal team members.
“Ten years is a long time to stay in an IT position,” he adds. “I’ve stayed as long as I have because I see a lot of progress, and it’s nice to be included in discussions and decisions on how to move the company forward.”
One of the things Jonathan has loved most about his role over the past ten years is the relationships he’s formed with his fellow team members.
“[With] everyone that I’ve met throughout the years, I’ve formed relationships that have been fantastic,” he says. “It’s really like nothing else. Being at TRS is like being a part of a family in all the best possible ways.”
Currently, Jonathan leads a dedicated team and oversees internal IT operations, while also playing a key role in strategic decision-making for the company.
“I’m responsible for setting up new team members with all the technology they need to be successful,” he explains. “I also handle account maintenance, making sure that everything’s working in the background. Tom [Glasco, Systems Engineer] and I joke that we’re the firemen of TRS. Whenever there’s an IT issue, we’re there to help put the fire out and figure out how to make things better for our team members.”
Jonathan says, in the future, he hopes his role evolves so that he can also provide assistance and support to our external team members—TRS travel healthcare professionals.
“TRS is an extremely high caliber, highly caring company that focuses on giving you quality care,” he says. “They care about you as an individual. This company is not a meat grinder where we just process people through. It’s a company where people are seen as individuals, and their contributions are appreciated.”
Outside of work, Jonathan is an avid mountain biker, enjoys spending time with his wife of 25 years, and is a self-proclaimed “IT geek” with a love for Star Trek, Star Wars, and all things tech. His something bigger has always been to support his family—and thanks to his career with TRS Healthcare, his wife has been able to retire from the workforce.
“TRS has made my wildest dreams come true,” adds Jonathan.
